"Isabella" was born in Glenvale, (half way between Upper Plenty and Whittlesea) in 1874 to Richard Batten and Mary Hazard. The birth was registered as at Upper Plenty. [1] Thereafter she seems to have adopted the forename "Florence," as shown on her marriage and death registrations.
She married Thomas Lempriere in St. Mary's, Caulfield, in 1932. He was aged 71 and she 56. [2]
