John Batten was born on 3 January 1844, in Penrith, New South Wales, Australia.

His parents were Mr John Batten Mr (~1807 - 1868) and Mrs Anne (McCarthy) Batten (~1812 - 1883).

John married Sarah Jane Pickett (~1849 - 1924).[1]

They were the parents of at least 3 daughters.

He died on 23 September 1924, in Mudgee, New South Wales, Australia, at the age of 80, and was buried in Lue, New South Wales, Australia. [2]
