Biography

Thomas was baptised on 16 Nov 1770 in Saltash Cornwall, the son of Henry Batten and Mary.^[1]

Thomas, a farmer, married Thomasin Clatworthy by licence on 9 October 1805 in St Stephen by Saltash in Cornwall.^[2][3]

In the 1841 census Thomas (age 65) was in Bicton in Botus Fleming, Cornwall, England.^[4]

Research Notes

Thomas is identified in his Father's, Henry Batten, Will as Thomas Batten, which he wrote on 19 February 1800. ^[5]

Thomas was identified in his mother’s, Mary Batten Will as Thomas Batten, which she wrote on 29 January 1822.^[6] This confirms that he was still alive in 1822, it is interesting to note that none of his children are mentioned in mother's Will this could be because he had already received his inheritance when he got married to Thomazine.
