In 1683 Elizabeth Batten, daughter of Edward Batten and Elizabeth, was baptised at Saint Thomas, Portsmouth, Hampshire, England on the 25th of September, 1683.[1]
(This may not be the right Elizabeth and is in any event an ODM record but it is promulgated so others may determine the correctness.)
In 1701 Charles Howard was married to Elizabeth Batten at Mottistone, Hampshire, England on the 13th of March, 1701.[2][3]
Research Note
Elizabeth Batten is daughter of Edward Batten of Portsmouth, specifically mentioned in Cokayne's Peerage[4], so not daughter of Edward Batten of Rochester and his wife, Elizabeth Foster. Detached and a new father created.

Hi. Ken. Welcome to WikiTree. I note that your source for Elizabeth is peerage, which names her father as being from Portsmouth and does not name a mother. Is there any evidence that this family had any connection with the Battens of Rochester? I didn't find any when I did the original work on this family a couple of decades ago. I would like to remove this link and create a new Edward Batten who lived in Portsmouth. Quite happy to collaborate with you on that as Portsmouth is my home town.
