Biography

Persian Batten was born in 1852, on the voyage to Australia on the Persian by his parents and siblings, the son of Ann Batten and Joseph Batten.^[1][2]

He married Kate Eliza Sheppard on 11 April 1878 in Victoria, Australia.^[3][4] Their children were:

• Persian Ernest Batten (1879–1933)^[5]
• Beryl Elizabeth Batten (1881–1967?)^[6]
• Clarence Arundel Batten (1890–1953?)^[7]

Persian died on 15 December 1906 in East Melbourne, Victoria, aged 54 years.^{[1][8][9][10]}
