Vincent J Battinelli was born in the Bronx, New York, the son of Italian immigrant parents. He enlisted in the US Army for World War II on 14 September 1942 at Fort Jay Governors Island, New York.

After his service he removed from New York to Munsonville, living for many years in the area of Granite Lake with his wife, Frances.

In the early '60s he moved to Keene.
