Daughter of G. W. and Arminta Battles (ME Births and Christenings, 1739-1900).
Daughter of George W. (b abt 1826) and Arminta (b abt 1836) Barrles (1860 census).
"Gatchell/Getchell Descendants," on the internet, says that Leslie S. Getchell, b. 1852, d. 1906, married Julia B. Battles on Jan 12, 1880 in Androscoggin Co., Maine. His residence was Ft. Dodge, Iowa.
The 1880 census lists 27-year-old Leslie L. and 22-year-old Julia Getchel in Fort Dodge, Webster Co., Iowa. He was a hotel clerk. She (and her parents) were born in New Hampshire (not Maine). This might be the same Julia Battles. They disappear from all records after 1880.
If this is the Julia that married Leslie Getchell, then she died Nov 1, 1940 in Waterville, ME ("Boston Herald," MA, Nov. 2, 1940, p. 11).
