Elda was born to Roy Baty and Lola Hitchler on 15 Jun 1922 in Mariposa, Jasper, Iowa.[1] Unfortunately, she was only 5 years old when she died on 23 March 1928 in Newton, Iowa.[2] She found a piece of bread that had been treated with rat poison for vermin control and she ate it and died a short time later. Her entire family was grief struck and her parents devastated. Ninety years later, her siblings still spoke fondly of her.[3]
