Maria Bauer was born on May 5, 1855 in Schwaibach, near Vilsbiburg. Catholic parish of Velden on the Vils, (the modern name of the village is Unterschweibach). Her parents' names were Matthias Bauer and Katharina Hell, (both from farming families). Her father was recorded in the records as a 'Bauer-Schlichter' (a mediator or an arbitrator among local farmers).
Maria married Jakob Bauer on 16 July 1883 in Holzhausen, Geisenhausen, near Vilsbiburg, Bayern. They had about 13 children, but only 5 survived into adulthood.
They eventually settled on a farm in Walchstadt/Höhenrain, in the Lake Starnberg area. But they moved to other places in Bavaria to farm.
Sometime in the early 1920s the aging couple moved with their son Jacob to Viehbach, in the Freising/Dachau area.
Maria Bauer died in Viehbach in the 1935. Their graves are not marked, but most likely they are buried in their son's grave and their descendants.[1]
