Biography

Roy H. Bauer, 87, Bismarck, died December 27, 2015.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Zion Lutheran Church, 413 Avenue D East, Bismarck, with Rev. Thomas R. Marcis, Jr. and Rev. Les Wolfgram officiating.

Burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Bismarck.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm Wednesday, December 30, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 6:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Roy Henry Bauer was born March 27, 1928, near Blue Grass, ND, the son of Andrew and Adelgunda (Ruede) Bauer. On May 29, 1951, he was inducted into the United States Armed Forces and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Alaska and given an honorable discharge on April 15, 1953. He attended the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton.

On June 16, 1957, Roy was united in marriage to Vivian Treiber in Hebron, ND, and to this union two sons were born, Ryan and Kendall. In 1971, Roy started his own plumbing and heating company-Bauer Plumbing & Heating, Inc.-which is now owned by his two sons. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, traveling with family, and sharing his garden of plenty. Roy was a man of few words, with a wonderful personality, who always enjoyed being around others. He was a hardworking, reliable, and trustworthy man who loved his family deeply.

Blessed to have shared his life is his wife of 58 years, Vivian, Bismarck; his two sons, Ryan (Jamye) Bauer, and Kendall Bauer, both of Bismarck; his grandchildren, Kristie, Sarah (Daniel) Anderson, Cole, Seth, Dylan and Brady; his great-grandchildren, Rylan, Nolan and Raegan Anderson; his brothers, Kurt and Walton; and his sisters-in-law, Betty Bauer, Virginia (Gene) Veil, and Evangeline Treiber. Roy’s faith, love, and generosity will be his legacy on earth.

Meanwhile he will be in heaven reunited with his parents; his sisters, Lillian Bauer, Walinda Skelly; and his brothers, Aaron and Martin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Zion Lutheran Church or the Boy Scouts of American, Northern Lights Council.
