Biography

Bessie Baxter was born 20 Jun 1725 in Auchterderran, Fife, Scotland to Charles and Mary (Tod) Baxter.^[1]

In 1751 Bessie married John Kinninmont in Auchterderran.^[2]

Bessie and John had children:

• John Kinninmont, christened 1 May 1752;^[3]
• Mary Kinninmont, christened 13 Apr 1754;^[4]
• Charles Kinninmont, christened 25 Oct 1756;^[5]
• Jean Kinninmont, christened 5 Mar 1760;^[6]
• Betty Kinninmont, christened 5 Jun 1762.^[7]

All were born in Auchterderran.

Bessie died sometime after the birth of her last known child in 1762.

Research Notes

There were two Bessie Baxters born in Auchterderran in the right time period: in 1722^[8] and in 1725.^[2]

Based on Scottish naming patterns, Bessie's parents were most likely Charles and Mary. This corresponds exactly with the Bessie born in 1725. Also, "1725" Bessie was born the closest to our Bessie's marriage date, making her only 26 at marriage rather than 29 for "1722" Bessie.
