Mary was born in 1864. She is the daughter of Matthew Baxter and Grizzi Anderson.
Mary emigrated to America settling in Michigan where she was employed as a Nurse.
She was 22 when she married on 17 Aug 1891 at Manistique, Schoolcraft, Michigan to Samuel Patterson, aged 25. J S McKnight and Flora McArthur of Manistique were their witnesses. Samuel Patterson, son of Robert Patterson and Mary Sayers was previously of Ireland.

A daughter Annie known as Anna was born in Michigan in 1894 before their move to Pennsylvania.
Robert J Patterson was born about 1892. He didn't survive childhood and died aged 8 of Diptheria. Robert was buried at Mt Peace Cemetery.
Samuel and Mary settled in Philadelphia and lived at Kimball Street later moving to Bucknall.
William Matthew was born 28 January 1897 and baptised 20 June. BIRTH/BAPTISM - William Mattew Patterson - Baptism Age 0, Event Type Baptism, Birth Date 28 Jan 1897, Baptism Date 20 Jun 1897, Baptism Place Pennsylvania, USA, Organization Name Official Acts of the Reverend Samuel E Appleton, Father Samuel Patterson, Mother Mary Patterson. William died of Cholera at the age of 1 and was buried at Mt Moriah Cemetery.
A son Samuel Jr was born 26 February 1901 and baptised on April 28 at the Church of the Holy Apostles sponsored by his parents. Samuel Jr didn't survive and died of Diptheria at Philadelphia Hospital aged 9 in 1910. He was buried at Mt Peace Cemetery.
The youngest child was Robert Patterson born in 1904 in Pennsylvania.
Mary was widowed in 1906 when Samuel died aged 41 at 1216 Bucknall Street. Samuel Patterson was buried at Mt Peace Cemetery. 12 Dec 1865 - 29 Dec 1906
Mary Patterson had 3 surviving children at the time of the 1910 Census, Anna 16, Samuel 9 and Robert aged 6. She was employed as a Seamstress in the US Arsenal industry in the 1910 Census.
Daughter Anna married in 1914 to Joseph B Hewitt. [1]They settled in New Jersey next door to Anna's in-laws. Mary remained at Bucknall Street, Philadelphia.
In 1920 her son in law Joseph Hewitt was visiting. The Philadelphia Census was taken on the 12/13 January and on the 18 January in New Jersey.
After 1920 she moved in with daughter Anna and her family on Poplar Ave, Camden, NJ. Mary supported herself as an Inspector in the Wholesale Clothing industry.
Mary Patterson's death date wasn't sourced. She may have died in 1937 and buried at Mt Moriah Cemetery, Philadelphia.
Annie (Patterson) Hewitt died in 1959 and Joseph in 1967. Both are buried at Berlin Cemetery, Camden County, NJ. ( FAG )
