Southern Cross of HonorJoseph P Bay, Private, 8th Louisiana Infantry Regiment, Company F.

Son of Joseph B Bay and Celise Pitre. Resident of Opelousas, St Landry Parish in 1860, Age, 21.[1] Resident of St Landry Parish in 1850.[2][3]

Pvt Joseph Bay served in the United States Civil War.

Military Records Bay, Joseph P, Private. Company F. 8th Louisiana Infantry. Enlisted Camp Moore, June 23rd, 1861. Roll for July and August 1861, "Present. Left. Sick at Chattanooga, En Route from Camp Moore, June 27th, 1861. Joined Company August 4th at Camp Pickens". Roll for September and October, 1861, "Died at Manassas October 5th, 1861." Record Card of Organization copied from Memorial Hall, New Orleans, Louisiana, by the War Department, Washington DC, June 1903. "Born, Louisiana. Occupation, Farmer. Residence, Flat Toure, Louisiana. Age, 20. Single. Remarks, Died September 17th 1861, at Manassas, of Pneumonia".[4]
