According to references and recordings he was the brother-in-law of Peter Stuyvescent, Governor. He married Judith Varlet/Varleth in 1666, thus saving her from being murdered from the accusations of witchery. The couple had one son, Samuel.
7 May 1707 Nicholas Bayard, merchant of New York, all estate to wife Judith and after her decease to son Samuel Bayard. Proved 19 April 1711. It then states: Judith Bayard having since deceased. Abstracts of NY Wills page 36.
