According to references and recordings he was the brother-in-law of Peter Stuyvescent, Governor. He married Judith Varlet/Varleth in 1666, thus saving her from being murdered from the accusations of witchery. The couple had one son, Samuel.

His marriage states that he was "Van Alphen", perhaps just baptized in Amsterdam? Or perhaps he grew up in Alphen.

Profile does not have source citations for the 1644 birth of Nicholas in Alphen.

But there is a baptism record for Nicolaes Baijert, July 31,1639, Amsterdam, parents Samuel Baijert and Anna Stuijvesant.
