Otto V, Duke in Bavaria, was the son of Ludwig IV, Duke of Upper Bavaria and his second wife Marguerite de Hainaut. He was born about 1340/1342. He succeeded in 1347 as Otto V "der Faule" joint Duke of Bavaria.

He married Katharina, daughter of Emperor Karl IV, King of Bohemia, and his first wife Blanche/Marguerite de Valois, at Prag on March 19, 1366.

He died on 15 or 16 November 1379 at Schloss Wolfstein, and was buried at Seligenthal.
