Thanks Barbara. I'm struggling to get my head around this, but I'll keep trying.

All the best for Christmas and the New Year.

Hi Barbara and thank-you for the note! Re: "I have several Ancestry trees, would it be possible to use one of them to save me filling all my Details per Hand."

There are many people that do this. Information is found at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/GEDCOM and also http://www.wikitree.com/g2g/34384/how-you-export-partial-gedcom-from-your-family-tree-software. Please note the mission of "Only one profile per person." Personal experience has taught me to only upload a very small gedcom at a time.

Enjoy WikiTree!

Greetings!

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Thanks for joining us, Barbara. We have quite a few German members here, so you can ask questions in our forum in the language you feel most comfortable with :)

Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top left, or head over to the G2G forum, you might want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

For extra assistance, our Mentor Team are a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to help you out.

I thank all that have helped me , apologise that at times I sometimes have problems with my English.

Barbara

Hi,

I am a seventy oldie, born in London, went to work in Germany, married and stayed here. Still feel very British. Have unfortunatly late in life become interested in my parental roots, and wish I had asked more Questions ,as my parents lived. What I have upto now found out, is fascinating. I don't know if Ican help but I'll try. Greetings from Barbara in Bremen

I noticed you uploaded a GEDCOM. Here's a link to a great step-by-step of the process including screenshots that you might find helpful.

The help pages give lots of information about the process, best to start with 'Before you import a GEDCOM'.

Hi Barbara!

Welcome to WikiTree, and thank you for your interest.

If you just want to look things up, or upload a GEDCOM for match, you do not need to take further actions.

If you want to contribute to WikiTree (add profiles, collaborate etc.), you must sign up as a volunteer. Doing so I will ask you to tell a little about your plans on your profile page. Do not volunteer unless you plan to contribute please!

After volunteering you can sign the HONOR CODE. You'll then become a full member and can help grow WikiTree through participation in the community. WikiTree also have MENTORS in case you need guidance.
