Biography

Mary Ann Bayliss was born in about 1835 at Burford in Oxfordshire. She was baptised at the parish church of Burford on 8 April 1835, as the daughter of Henry and Caroline Bayliss, of Burford. Her father was a labourer. ^{[1] [2] [3] [4]}

In 1851 Mary Ann Baylis was living at Finstock in Oxfordshire with her parents, Henry and Caroline, and their other children. Her age was given as 16, implying a birth date in 1834 or 1835. Her birthplace was given as Burford, Oxfordshire. She was a gloveress. ^[2]

Jessie [sic] Wiggins, bachelor, of full age, a labourer, of Leafield, son of William Wiggins, labourer; and Mary Ann Bailis, spinster, aged 20, of Finstock, daughter of Henry Bailis, labourer; were married at the parish church of Shipton under Wychwood in Oxfordshire on 25 April 1853. ^[3]

In 1861 Maryann Wiggins was living in Lower End in Leafield with her husband Jesse and their children. Her age was given as 26, implying a birth date in 1834 or 1835. Her birthplace was given as Finstock. She was a glove maker. ^[4]
