Arthur BAYNES (4/3/1875-16/9/1956) Born at Risbridge SFK (1875/2-Risbridge-4a/475) ; 1881 Census - Arthur BAYNES aged 6 with parents at Street Little Thurlow SFK (PRO RG11/1823/f18) ; a saddler c1917 ; died aged 81 at Sudbury SFK (1956/3-Sudbury-4a/802) .
After their father died in 1917, Arthur and William took over his business with their mother, Jane remaining the owner. Jane died in 1926. Her will gave ownership to the 6 surviving children, although Ada disinherited herself. The will has a provision that Hetty specifically is to be looked after if the saddler business was sold. Probably because Hetty had no husband to look after her. The will allowed brothers William and Arthur to run their late father's saddlemaking business.
In 1950 after William died, the siblings signed a memo that transferred management of the saddlemaking business to Edgar and Arthur.
In 1953 after Arthur wanted to retire due to ill health, so another memo was created that transferred management of the business solely to Edgar. Arthur was too sick to sign this, so it was signed on his behalf by H. V. Richard, solicitor with Steed and Steed, Haverhill, Suffolk.
If Arthur DID run a pub, it was not at the time of his children being born, as Ashton is in Essex, and the children were born in Suffolk.
