Frédéric was a noted Impressionist painter, whose career was cut short by his death during the Franco-Prussian War in 1870.

Jean Frédéric Bazille was born on 6 December 1841 in Montpellier. He was the son of Jean François Gaston Bazille and Camile Victorine Marguerite Vialars.[1]
