Biography

1776 Project
Gershom Beach served with Green Mountain Boys during the American Revolution.

It is sometimes claimed he married second, Jane Keeler of Pittsford, Massachusetts, but others assert she married and is buried beside Gershom Beach(5) Aaron(4) Gershom(3) Thomas(2) John(1), the nephew of this Gershom. Similar confusion surrounds the claim that this Gershom made the famous "hike" in 1775 to rally the Green Mountain Boys for the raid on Fort Ticonderoga, with some claiming it was his son, Samuel(5), while others say it was his nephew, Gershom(5) Aaron(4).

The following cited book:

BASCOM, R., & Holden, J. (1910). THE TICONDEROGA EXPEDITION OF 1775. Proceedings of the New York State Historical Association, 9, 303-389. Retrieved from http://www.jstor.org/stable/42889435; states that present for the Fort Ticonderoga Expedition was Gershom Beach of Salisbury, VT.

I didn't want to change your narrative but I did add this as a source since it narrows things down to a Gershom Beach, as he is specifically named, not Samuel.

thanks!
