Biography

OBITUARY: After a brief illness, Jackie Beach Bader, 77, beloved Mother, Nana, and wife, passed from this life to the next on September 25, 2020. Born in Clarendon, Texas, on March 6, 1943, she was the namesake of her father Jack. Her parents, Jack and Catharine Beach, were also blessed with three other children, Ed, Louise, and Mary Jo.

Jackie grew up in Farmington, New Mexico, where in the sixth grade she met her future husband Charles. A graduate of Farmington High School, class of ‘61, Jackie was a member of the Thespian Society and the Kelly Greens. After her marriage to Charles in 1962, the couple moved to Albuquerque. Throughout her adult life, Jackie worked as an office administrator in public schools, doctors offices and most recently, the Albuquerque Speech, Language and Hearing Center. She was known for her work ethic, organization, and the heartfelt connection she made with clients, especially children. In addition to her own work, she was a steadfast supporter of her husband Charles, a United Methodist minister. In 1986, they founded Mesa View United Methodist Church in Albuquerque. They served churches in Denver, Clovis, and Rio Rancho as well. Their current church home is Cornerstone United Methodist in Albuquerque; through this summer, Charles served there part-time as pastor and Jackie dedicated time weekly to the operation of the food pantry.

Everyone who knew her understood that she would never hesitate to help friends and strangers alike. From carrying food and blankets in her trunk, to lending a listening ear for a friend in need, to founding an after-school program for kids of working parents, Jackie’s warm heart and giving spirit defined her. She was also strong and stubborn, two qualities which served her well in her successful battle with breast cancer.

A wordsmith and worthy Scrabble and Trivial Pursuit opponent, Jackie also enjoyed photography, poetry, literature, antiquing, and bargain shopping. A faithful member of Chapter BH of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Jackie cherished the opportunity to celebrate the advancement of women. She was honored to serve as president of the chapter during the 2014-2015 fiscal year.

Jackie was preceded in death by her father, Jack. She is survived by her husband Charles; her mother Catharine; her siblings, Ed, Louise, and Mary Jo; and by her children and their spouses, Devin and Jody Bader, Demery and Scott Bader-Saye, Drew and Amanda Bader, and Damon and Amanda Bader. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, in whom she took such delight: Amy, Elise, Jadin, Eli, Claire, Avery, Luke, Faith and Odin.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Breast Cancer research, The United Way of Central New Mexico, or the scholarship fund of the BH Chapter of P.E.O. A memorial celebration of Jackie's life will be postponed to a later date (due to Covid), perhaps around the time of her birthday in the Spring.
