Biography

Elizabeth was born in 1574. Elizabeth Beachena ... She passed away in 1647.

In Naomi Tharp Spinner's book, she doesn't know Elizabeth's maiden name. She does quote from "Old Families of Salisbury and Amesbury": Mrs. Elizabeth Goodale came from Yarmouth, England in the "Mary Ann" in 1637: died in Newbury, April 8, 1647. She was the widow of John Goodale of Yarmouth, whose will was dated 1625.

Ms. Spinner only attributes three children to John and Elizabeth Goodale: Ann, Joanna, and Elizabeth. She notes that Susanna was the daughter of Elizabeth Goodale and her first (or second?) husband, Mr. Taylor.

Marriage

Second marriage to Unknown Taylor.

I think they borrowed the death date for both John and for this Elizabeth from Goodale 11 and Partlett-2.

Partlett-2 the other John Goodale's wife Elizabeth really died at Newbury in 1647 and her estate was recorded there. See several docs on this page.

Oh dear, the two Johns, however, have entirely different sets of children. would think one just "borrowed" the wrong death date.

There doesn't seem to be any source for Beachena/Beachman. An Elizabeth Beachman married Zachariah Goodale in 1666.

However ...

I think the Elizabeth wife of John Goodale is actually this woman: Elizabeth (Partlett) (Taylor) Goodale. Parlett-2

She is the wife of John 1563-1625 ie. Goodale-11 (both are sourced)

What is the source that her surname is Beachena? We have an Elizabeth Unknown married to John Goodale. She outlived him so he didn't take on a second wife.

update: no response/Beachena-1 detached as spouse

A comment on the profile of Percival Lowell noted that he had gained an extra wife (Beachena-1) and Elizabeth Beachena-1 had gained a husband (Lowell-227) and asked that the Magna Carta Project "check and do a disconnect please."

Douglas Richardson (who documents Percival Lowell as a Gateway Ancestor) does not mention a wife named Elizabeth. Since Anne asked Magna Carta Project to review/detach, I'll assume that Anderson doesn't either. If Anderson DOES show them as married, or if anyone has clear primary proof regarding such a union, please post. Otherwise, I'll detach Beachena-1 as wife of Lowell-227 on Monday.

Thanks! Liz (Magna Carta Project co-leader)
