Olive was born circa 1781[1], the daughter of Josiah Beal, who was one of the early settlers of Yarmouth Nova Scotia, and Dorothy Burgess[2]
In 1805, she married a widower, Captain Manasseh Cook, the son of Ephraim Cook and Louisa Ring, of Yarmouth Nova Scotia[2]and they had children, including:
Mary, born January 7, 1806, who married Abram Hatfield II, and who died in 1872[3]
Thomasine, born December 18, 1807, who married William Pitman, son of Benjamin, and who died August 20, 1867
Olive, who married Asaph Saunders, son of Henry Saunders and who died in 1873[4]
Amos (Captain), born 1813, who married Sarah Potter, daughter of James Potter Sr; and who died January 5, 1861
Zilpha, born 1814, who died unmarried, November 24, 1834
Enos (Captain), who married Mary Patten, daughter of Richard Patten on October 4, 1838, and then married Mahulda (Cook) Poole, widow of Captain Samuel Poole on October 13, 1855; and who was lost in the Melrose October 28,1861[5]
William Beal, who married and settled in New Orleans
Harriet Newell, who married Daniel Ward of Halifax
Olive Beal Cook died on Nov. 25, 1862, and is buried in Chebogue Cemetery in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia[1][6][7]
