Edith Beall was born around Aug 1881 in Illinois, according to the 1900 Census. [1] No document has been located to verify a specific date of birth. Her birthplace was most likely Alton, Illinois, the home of her parents and the birthplace of her siblings.

She was the daughter of Charles B Beall and Anna Whitehead.

1900 Census: Edith Beall, age 18, born Aug 1881 in Illinois; living at Alton Ward 5, Madison, Illinois with parents Charles Beall, age 56, "Margaret Beall", age 55; and three siblings: Margaret, age 23; Edith, age 18; and Elizabeth, age 15. [1]

1910 Census: Edith B Browne, age 28; living at Detroit Ward 1, Wayne, Michigan, with husband Frederick D (sic) Browne, age 28, and two children: Katherine B Browne, age 2; and Frederick T (sic) Browne, age 1. [2]

1930 Census: Edith B Browne, age 48; living at Royal Oak, Oakland, Michigan, with husband Frederick O Browne (Sr.), and two children: Katherine B Browne, age 21, and Malcom E Browne, age 12. [3]

1907 Marriage

Edith Beall married Dr. Frederick O Browne, 7 Jan 1907 at Alton, Illinois.

"Alton young woman becomes bride of Dr. Fred Browne of New York as surprise, Recently, Dr. Fred O Browne, of New York City, a dentist, arrived from Hamilton, Ontario for a visit. Miss Beall graduated from a Philadelphia medical school and has a license to practice medicine, and it was while she was attending school that she that she met Dr. Browne at the home of a mutual friend in Philadelphia. The marriage of Miss Beall caused great surprise in Alton as few of her friends had more than a suspicion that she was engaged to be married." [5]
