Biography

1686 Birth and Parents

Ninian Beall was born in 1686 in Calvert County, Maryland. His father was Alexander Beall, born 11 October 1649 in St. Andrew's Parish, Fifeshire, Scotland. His father died 5 September 1744 in Prince George's County. His mother was Elizabeth Combs, born before 1661 in Calvert County, Maryland and died about 1699 in Prince George's County. [1]

Ninian, b. say 1686. Russell reports 1680's [2] and Fielder M. M. Beall reports 1687 [3] to Alexander Beall and first wife (name unknown). Listed as a child of Alexander by Donna Russell [2]According to Russell, "Alexander's children by his unidentified first wife were born in the 1680-1700 period." [2]

He was born est. ca 1686. [4]

1703 Marriage to Ruth

Ninian married Ruth, born about 1688. Her maiden name is not known.[1]

Calvert in PG, James Stoddert, one of the executors, soon after his father's death, died, and Elizabeth & Willm renouncing, letters testamentary were on Dec 23, 1726, granted to John Stoddert, party to these presents. Whereas Alexander Beall and William Offutt, late of PG, Gent, were possessed in their lifetime, with a certain tract of land called Neighborhood, lying in Page on the west side of the Western Branch of Potuxent River, containing about 488 acres, which 488 acres was by patent granted jointly to Alexander Beall & William Offutt afd dated Dec 7, 1703, and by an instrument of writing dated Sep 18, 1710, 'twas agreed by the afd Beall & Offutt that the afd quantity of land should be equally divided between them by a line starting in the middle of the beginning line, then running NW to the N line, with Beall getting the east part and Offutt, the west part, but since the afd divisional line, 'tis found a more ancient survey called Brooke Content (beginning at the Spring Branch of William Offutt deed, being a dividing tree of a tract of land called Neighbourhood between sd Offutt and sd Beall, and running with the bounds of Neighbourhood E, then S then W, containing about 45 acres, & the afd tract of land called Brooke Content belonged to Thomas Brooke, Esq in PG, decd, but was by deed in his lifetime, sold to the afd Alexander Beall, and William Beall now being possessed with a right thereto, being heir at law of the afd Alexander Beall, inclines to dispose of it with all his other land thereunto adjoining & herein contained. And the sd Alexander Beall, late of PG, decd, did, by his will, devise all his part of the afd tract of land called Neighbourhood) unto his son William Beall, and all his part of a tract of adjoining land called Largoe, lying on the south side of South West Branch & by the same will, devised to his son, Ninian Beall, all the other part that he held, lying on the north side of the afd South W est Branch, then to Daniel Danielson's land, containing about 452 acres. 1749-1752 Prince George's County, Maryland Land Records Liber PP [Abstract by Mike Marshall]; Page 134.[1] At the request of Elizabeth Waddams the following Deed of Gift was recorded August 30, 1751 I Elizabeth Waddams, widow, in consideration of the natural love and neighborly affection I do bear to my beloved neighbor Ninian Beall and for other divers bad causes and considerations me thereunto moving do give and grant the shin of the face of a dark colored red bull with a motley face, the property supposed by the said Ninian Beall to be in a certain John Brown of the same neighborhood but many times proved to be the right of me. The aforesaid shin of the face I do hereby give and grant unto my said bad neighbor Ninian Bell for a cap and the horns belonging to the head of said bull. I likewise give for an ornament thereto to him the said Ninian Beall his heirs and assigns forever, to have and to hold the said face and horns for the uses above-mentioned provided always and upon this condition that the said Ninian Beall make use of the things above-mentioned in a neighborly and affectionate humane manner and not to use the above-mentioned valuable things in a malicious spitefull or angry manner so that they may be damaged or worsted in case of such rough usage and to the true intent and meaning of this deed that the said face and horns may be delivered after the decease of my said neighbor Ninian Beall to his son Ninian Beall and if he should use the set contrary to the true intent in meeting this Deed that I do and grant the same to his second son and so on to the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth sons of the said Ninian Beall lawfully begotten and in case of failure of such issue that I do give and grant the said face and horns to be equally divided amongst all the daughters of the said Ninian Beall in case of failure than I do give and grant the face and horns aforesaid to the male heir of the Bealls forever. He is currently shown as the son of Elizabeth Coombs (Coombs-636), and also as her husband. Since this would have been viewed as extremely scandalous at the time and most unlikely to have actually happened. I am disconnecting Elizabeth as his wife.
