Martha was born in 1819. She is the daughter of Noble Beall and Justianna Hooper. She passed away in 1897. [1]
Samuel and Martha eloped. Her parents disapproved because Martha was only thirteen years old. They would have eleven children. Martha was a small woman, but knew how to control the eleven children.
Martha B Candler was enumerated for the United States Census, 1850 at The 11th Division, Carroll County, Georgia on April 9th. It is shown in an image of the original along with S C Candler, Milton, E S and Noble D.[2] On the following page in this same census, but dated April 10th, as seen in an image of the original, are Julia F Candler, Sarah J, Wm B and Ezekiel F (this must be Elizabeth incorrectly enumerated).
Martha B Candler was enumerated for the United States Census, 1860 along with S C Candler, Ezekiel S Candler, Noble D Candler, Florence Candler, Jessie D Candler, Wm B Candler, Eliza F Candler, Asa G Candler, Charles C Candler, and Warren A Candler at the 2nd District, Carroll County, Georgia.[3]
Martha was enumerated on June 9th for the United States Census, 1870 at the Villa Rica Post Office in Villa Rica District, Carroll County, Georgia as seen in the image of the original. She is on page 4 of the census, with; Samuel C Candler, Noble D and Mary J. On page 5 are listed Charles C Candler. Warren A, John A and another listed as "works on farm", Edmund H Holland.[4]
Martha Beall is listed as the mother of record in the death of her daughter Elizabeth Frances Dobbs. She passed away following complications with breast cancer as noted about her December 29, 1922 Georgia Death.[5] and seen in this image of the Standard Certificate of Death. Her husband is listed as H H Dobbs, and father Samuel C. Candler. The informant is A G Candler and the attending physician is L L Campbell.
Martha Beall is listed in a February 16, 1926 Georgia Death of daughter Florence Candler Harris. As seen in an image of the original, the cause of death is noted as general debility after surgery as well as influenza and amended to reflect the fall happened in December. Her noted husband; James W. Harris, parents; Samuel Charles Candler and Martha Beall, both of Georgia. The informant is Asa G. Candler of 1040 Ponce de Leon, the same address as the deceased. The physician of record is J. T. Campbel of 23 Doctors Bldg.[6]
Martha Beall is recorded as the mother in Villa Rica, Carroll County for the April 6, 1928 Georgia Death of her son William Beall Candler. As seen in the image of the Certificate of Death her son died as a result of general septic infections. The wife of her son is listed as Nell H Candler and the father Samuel C. Candler.[7]
Martha Beal is listed as the mother for her son Asa on the certificate of his 1929 Georgia Death. The image of the Certificate of Death shows that Asa died from cerebral arteriosclerosis with associated inter-cranial hemorrhage. The informant was Howard Candler. Listed as his father is Samuel C. Candler. The attending physician was T. L. Nolan.[8]
Martha Bernetta Beall Candler is buried at Hillcrest Cemetery in Villa Rica, Carroll County, Georgia.[9]
