Mary was a Friend (Quaker)

Mary Beals was born 24 Mar 1692 to Mary and John Beals in Nottingham, Chester, Pennsylvania.^[1][2] Neither of her Quaker birth records or later primary documents contain the middle name "Ann."

Mary married Richard Harrold in 1709 which is recorded in the Concord Monthly Meeting minutes.^[3]

Their proven children are:

2. Mary b 28 Sep 1713 in Chester, Pennsylvania^[5]
3. John b 21 Dec 1714 in Chester, Pennsylvania^[4]
4. Jonathan b 20 Jan 1717 in Chester, Pennsylvania^[4]
5. Mary b 19 Nov 1718 (died 1726) in Chester, Pennsylvania^[5]
6. Rachel b 9 Apr 1721 in Chester, Pennsylvania^[4]
7. Richard birth year ranges 1720-1723. There is no primary source birth record for this son. Some believe he died young. Others believe he lived a normal life but there is little evidence of it. The one possible clue indicating he may have existed and been part of this family is the Will of Mary Ann Beals' father where four children of Rachel are listed, including Richard, and each is to receive 10 shillings when they come of age. That Will was written 1726 when Richard would have been between 3-6 years of age. It is possible that he did not survive long after this and is thus not found in later records.

It is commonly seen that Mary died in 1740 in Frederick, Virginia or buried in the Cane Creek Baptist Church cemetery, Orange County, North Carolina. There is currently no documentary evidence of her date or place of death.
