Biography

John was born in 1732. He passed away in 1807.

Johann Dietrich Böhm, born in 1732, near Hamburg, Germany, on the Elbe river, with his parents Michael Böhm (born circa 1702) and Sarah Rudolph Böhm, who, immigrated to North Carolina in November 1767. [1]

John married Rebecca Ranyolds, while still in Germany, and they immigrated first to Charleston, South Carolina about 1767, later moving to Lincoln County, North Carolina. In his new home, Johann became known as John Teeter Beam. John and Rebecca had six children, before she died in 1779. He married Elizabeth Rudolph, in 1781, and they had nine children. [2]

John did not serve as a soldier in the Revolutionary War, but is recognized for his "Patriotic Service" as ancestor number A007947. His DAR records indicate that he was married first to Rebecca Ranyolds and second to Elizabeth Rudolph. [3]This is based on his signature of the Oath of Allegiance, in Lincoln county, North Carolina in August of 1779. [4]

He can be found in the 1800 Census living in Lincoln County, North Carolina with 3 boys and 2 girls under 10, 2 boys and a girl from 10-15, 2 young men aged 16-25, and presumably himself and his wife both over 45.[5]

He is buried at New Prospect Baptist Church in Cleveland County, NC.[6]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
