Biography

Susan was born in Lincoln County, NC to Peter Beam and Ann Long. She married Philip Froneberger in the early 1840s.

In 1850 they were still living in Gaston County NC.[1] With them were children Letty, Aaron, Eliza, and Susan, and also Franklin Fronaberger (might have been one of Philip's brothers).

In 1860 they were in Cleveland County, NC.[2] Their listed children, ranging in ages from 20 down to 1, were: Letty, A.N., Eliza, Joshua, John, Rufus.

She and Philip moved out to Arkansas and were enumerated there in the 1870 census.[3]

Their daughter Mary Alice was born in Lincoln County, NC around 1866, so they likely went to Arkansas between 1867 and 1870.[4]

Between 1870 and 1880 they moved again to Texas. In 1880 they can be found in Stephens, Texas.[5]

Philip died in Stephens, Texas in 1882. Susan and at least some of the children settled in Shawnee, Pottawatomie County, Oklahoma (probably after 1891 when that county was opened up to non-Indian settlers). Susan is buried there in Fairview Cemetery.[6]
