Mary Beam Shurcliff was born in about 1786. She married Thomas Shurcliffe.[1] She appears to have died soon after daughter Rosella's birth in 1822 or early 1823. Children born to Thomas Shurcliff late 1823 and beyond were the children of the second wife, Nancy ____ Davy? Daley? (Still under study.)

Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line:
Beam-899 and Beam-1173 appear to represent the same person because: Mary Beam was clearly not born in 1731. I mistakenly accepted false information and am trying to fix it! Our best source is marriage record, 1806. Mary Beam was born around 1786.
Such a mess I am making! Mary Beam Beem Shurcliff Shircliff. Are there two of them? If she was born in 1731, is it feasible she married in 1806? Similar problems with multiple Thomases. Ugh!
All these spellings do complicate things, LA Banta. Beam, Beem, and Boehm! Then Shurcliff, Shirecliffe, etc. But remember that many back then couldn't read or write. And census-takers and others just wrote down what they *heard*. Phonetically. // And NO, this Mary Beem Beam Boehm couldn't have been born in 1731 if she had Rosella Shurcliffe in about 1823.
