Biography

Eli Beaman was a native of Montgomery County, North Carolina. He was born in about 1813 and his parents left North Carolina in the early 1820s and settled in Owen County, Indiana.[1] Note: No documentation is known that specifically states when Briant and Mary Catherine Beaman left North Carolina, but the birth places of Eli's two brothers, John W and Bryant B Beaman help to pinpoint the approximate time the family went to Indiana. Eli Beaman was married twice. First to Terre Langdon, who was most likely a related to his mother. They were married on 03 November 1831 in Owen County, Indiana.[2]

They were the parents of 8 children:

  • Lucinda Beaman (b. 1833 - d. 1923)
  • Zachariah Beaman (b. 1835 - d. 1879)
  • Mary Ann Beaman (b. 1837 - d. 1840)
  • William Harrison Beaman (b. 1839 - d. 1870)
  • John T Beaman (b. 1841 - d. 1852)
  • James M Beaman (b. 1843 - d. 1869)
  • Martha Jane Beaman (b. 1846 - d. 1923)
  • Eli Marion Beaman (b. Jan 1847 - d. Jul 1847)

His 2nd wife was Mary Sophia Starns. They were married on 11 Nov 1849. [2]

They were the parents of 4 children:

  • Samuel Tobias Beaman (b. 1852 - d. 1936)
  • Lewis Cass Beaman (b. 1855 - d. 1939)
  • Sara Isabella Beaman (b. 1860 - d. 1894)
  • George Bryant McClelland Beaman (b. 1864 - d. 1935)
