Biography

John Bean is a member of Clan MacBean.

Find A Grave lists John Bean as one of the children of Elisha Bean and Olive Shepherd Bean, and gives his birthdate of May 1, 1790.

Clan Macbean of North America, Vol.1 Sixth Edition Revised 1992, by Joseph S. Bean, page 320 lists the children of Elisha and Olive, but does not list John Bean among them. I added the children of Elisha, as listed in Clan MacBean to his profile. The eldest child listed was born in July of 1789, so it may be possible that John may have been of this family, however unlikely.

According to Penelope Johnson Allen, author of "Leaves From The Family Tree" and the State Chairman of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) Tennessee Society, John Bean who married Ruth Star was the grand-son of William Bean and Lydia (Russell) Bean

Birth: May 1, 1790 Tennessee, USA Death: Jun. 28, 1857 Evansville Washington County Arkansas, USA

Merchant in Cherokee Nation, married Ruth Starr and emigrated to Indian Territory; parents of 12 children.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

According to Genealogical and Family History of the STATE OF MAINE, John Bean son of Elisha and Olive was born in 1799 and died young. This cannot be that son. I also cannot find him listed as William and Lydia Bean's grandson.
