William A.C. Bean served in the Company C, 6th East Tennessee Regiment from April 18, 1861 to April 27, 1865. Despite serving virtually the entirety of the Civil War, he survived to live out his life until 1907.
The Inscription on his Tombstone reads:
When my life work is ended And I cross the swelling tide I shall know my Redeember When I reach the other side
William and his wife, Susan Louvenia (Michaels) Bean are buried in the Washington Pike Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Knox County, Tennessee
