Birth

May's birth was registered as May Sample Bean because her parents did not marry until a few weeks after she was born. There was no mother's maiden name on the record. The birth was registered in the Middlesbrough district in the 3rd quarter of 1883. ^[1]

1891 Census

The Bean family was living at High Street, Normanby in 1891. ^[2]The granddaughters May and Maggie belong to different daughters of Coulson (senior). May seems to belong to daughter Phoebe who married Edward Sample in 1883 and Maggie seems to belong to daughter Hannah Elizabeth who married Richard Easby in 1890. Both granddaughters have birth registrations with no mother's maiden name.

Marriage

The marriage between Osborne Ingledew and May Sample Bean was registered in the 1st quarter of 1905 in the Middlesbrough district. ^[4] Although May's marriage was apparently in the name of May Sample Bean, the 2 sons from the 1911 census had births with mother's maiden name of Sample rather than Bean.
