Biography

This profile is part of the Northome, Minnesota One Place Study.

Agnes was born in 1909. She passed away in 1997. She had surgery behind her right ear as a toddler, as a result she couldn't smile on that side of her face, so she is recognizable in the pictures.

She was born in Glen Ullin, ND, grew up there, and attended college. She then taught in a one-room school house. She boarded with the Ungerechts while teaching, met Walter. They married in Pasco Washington where he was trying to find work during the Depression. Then they moved to Minnesota, back to ND for a bit, then returned to MN in 1957 and stayed there. She worked as a teacher in Kelliher School District, then did substitute teaching in Kelliher and Northome after retiring. She traveled the world, including the Holy Lands, Germany, relatives in Sweden, and there's some debate if she went to all 50 states. She claimed she missed New Jersey, but one of her sons went there with her.
