DEATH 1948 Notes from his daughter Joycelyn/Joyce Bean Boitnott. I’ve been going through my albums looking for pictures. He was born in 1908, Feb. 11, in Rootstown, Ohio. He died on June 14, 1948 at 40 years. He always used to say he couldn’t wait to be 40; “Life begins at 40!” He turned 40 in Feb. & died in June. He went in the hospital with flu-like symptoms on a Friday & died on Monday. He was a furrier and worked for Volbracht’s Furs on Main St. in Akron, Ohio until he quit to start his own fur shop. He worked in the chemical plant at night for Goodyear during the war all the while keeping his fur business going during the day. He had his own shop on N. Main St. until his death. The only other time I remember him being ill, was when he had a wisdom tooth extracted. He was the ultimate business man; when he went into the hospital he had a private room and had a private telephone installed by his bed so he could carry on his fur business. That just wasn’t done back then. He is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna, Ohio. Ironically I(Joycelyn) went to visit his grave last fall. I had not been there in years as I traveled and was away from Ohio for years. There is a Bean Plot there & Grandma & Grandpa Bean, Lucie, & my Dad are interred there, There is also a plot for me and one for my Mom but of course neither of us will use those,. I am going to attach some pictures of my Dad, his parents, Gladys Little, & also a picture I took the last time I ever saw or spoke to anyone from the Bean side of my family. The picture of Gladys Little, my Mom (Bertha Fuchs) holding me & 2 young girls; was in Mom’s album & I have no idea who the girls are. The one of the group of Beans is Back Row: Steve Little, Gladys Little, Loren, Lawrence, & Berdella Bean. Front Row: Great Aunt Frances Bender (Grandma’s sister), Mr. Clearwater ( Elizabeth 2nd husband), Grandma Bean & my Mother,Bertha Fuchs . I was 13 & took the picture. That was taken on or close to Labor Day 1949. Joyce PS: I’ll send more photos in another note.
