Note
William Forrest Beane known by most people as "Will" was a farmer who owned land on Haynes Branch located near Sissonville in Kanawha County, West Virginia. On May 12th 1897 he married Mary Margaret Carney. They had seven children and unfortunately Mary Margaret contracted Tuberculosis and died on the 8th of February in 1914. Will kept the family together and he raised the children on his own. I remember my father, Gloe Kyle Beane who was the youngest of Will's three sons telling me that no one was allowed to take care of Grandmother Mary except for Will himself. He would cook all of her food and boiled all the dishes that she used, making sure that the rest of the family never touched the dishes and eating utensils that she had used. As a result no one else in the family had contracted the dreaded disease. There were several other families in the area that had reported more than 1 case of Tuberculosis within their homes. {personal note from William S. "Bill' Beane}
