Biography

John was born in 1844. He immigrated from Bavaria, Germany in 1852. John served in the Civil War. Enlistment Date 26 Sep 1863 Enlistment Place Iowa City, Iowa Discharge Date 17 Oct 1865 Military Company I Military Regiment 6 La Cav Sometime after the war, he moved to Kansas City, MO, with his younger brother Henry, both working as brickmasons. He married Barbara Schleicher in 1874. They had four children: Daisy May, b.1875; Lillie, b.1879; Elmer Charles, b.1883; John T., b.1894.
