Biography
Daniel G Bear was born on May 31, 1844, in Cumberland, Pennsylvania to Israel J. and Mary Eliza (Stoy) Bear. He fought in Co I of the 68th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. He also was in Company D of the 8th Pennsylvania Cavalry and Company D of the 16th Pennsylvania Cavalry. He married Rachel Ann Hummell on April 3, 1873, in Macon, Illinois. He died on April 1, 1935, in Basalt, Colorado at the age of 90, and was buried in Basalt Cemetery in Basalt, Colorado.
