Laura Dawson Beard b. 29 July 1945 d. 2 June 2017, married Walter Jerome “Jerry” Satterwhite.

Obit: Laura D. Satterwhite, 71, of Blue Ridge, passed away at home on Friday, June 2, 2017. She was a beloved wife and mother, and was preceded in death by her father, Lyle L. Dawson; sister, Lilly May Dawson; and brothers, Lenny Dawson, Albert Dawson. Laura is survived by her husband, Jerry Satterwhite; daughters, Ronda Rocchio of Roanoke, Tina Blankenship and husband, Scott of Christiansburg; son, John Beard and friend, Veve; step daughter, Tracy Casares and husband, Erasmo of Vinton; granddaughter, Jada Satterwhite of Vinton; step son, Tony Satterwhite and friend, Amy of Blue Ridge; special nieces, Jill Walker of Roanoke, Patty Pecor of Shady Side, Maryland; mother, Mary Dawson of Hertford, North Carolina; sisters, Judy Keeton of Roanoke, Willie Logue of Shady Side, Maryland, Charlotte Banas of Arizona, Kathy Keyfer of North Carolina, Betty Armentrout of Front Royal, Virginia; and three special friends, Eleanor Sink and Bea Martin both of Roanoke, Don Hairfield of Vinton.

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Oakey’s East Chapel with Pastor Rodney Spears officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Angels of Assisi.

Burial: Cremated, Location of ashes is unknown.
