Biography

JOHN BEARD (aka John Baird) was born in 1778 in Frederick County, Maryland. His parents are unknown at this time.

John Beard married Elizabeth Fox (aka Fuchs), daughter of Michael Fox/Fuchs and wife, Susannah (maiden name unknown).

In 1840 John and his wife, Elizabeth, were enumerated in Montgomery County, Ohio with 5 males and 2 females, plus the 2 adults.

The 1850 Census taken on 24 September 1850 indicated that John Baird, Sr. was 66y, and was born in MD; his wife, Elisabeth Baird, was also 66y and born MD. Their daughter, Susannah Baird, 26y, b OH was residing with the family. Living with the couple also was George Olinger, 14y, born OH.

The 1860 U. S. Federal Census shows John and Elizabeth Beard were living in Butler Township, Montgomery County, Ohio on 8 June 1860. John was a retired farmer worth $1000.00 in real estate and $5000.00 in personal property. They were both 81 years old and said to have born in Maryland.

He passed away near Vandalia in Butler Township, Montgomery County, Ohio on 26 October 1866 "in the 88 year of his age".

He is buried at the Poplar Hill Cemetery in Vandalia, Montgomery County, Ohio, USA.
