Sam married Edith Loretta Cross (Hendrickson) Beard, the daughter of Samuel Julian Hendrickson and Adaline R. May, marrying in Roane County, Tennessee on September 10, 1929,[3] having put up a marriage bond in the sum of $1,200 the previous day.[4]
By 1940, they had moved to Kentucky, residing in Hardin County, where Sam had taken up farming in Hardin County.[5] By 1950, Sam worked as a laborer for the state highway department.[6]
Sam Beard passed away in Hardin County, Kentucky[7] at the age of 74[8] and is buried at Hardin Memorial Park Cemetery in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.[9]
