Research Notes

It seems likely that this profile was originally created from unsourced Ancestry trees, some of which contain enormous errors, particularly with the McGuire connections. However, there may be a few grains of truth somewhere in the pile. For example, there were several McGuire's in the area around Spartanburg, South Carolina (John, Sr., Merry, Elijah and John, Jr., with numerous children). Those McGuire's were there at about the same time Sarah was born. But most of those McGuire's had left SC long before 1840.

Sarah's father is reported to have died in Bedford Co., TN. Some of the McGuire's from SC did live, briefly c1816-1818, in Bedford Co., TN (Elijah, Amos and Williams). It is also important to recognize that there were other, completely unrelated, McGuire's (William and Thomas) who lived for a time in Bedford Co., TN.

Sarah's sister, Charlotte, married James Harvey Claunch. And he was the grandson of Jeremiah Claunch and wife, Jane McGuire. Jane's father, Francis, was the brother of John McGuire Sr. of Spartanburg, SC.

While there may be some McGuire connection to Sarah, somewhere, extensive research into these McGuire's and Claunch's failed to make any connection to Sarah Bearden.
