Biography

John was born about 1735. John is the son of Abraham Beardsley and Esther Jeanes. He was baptized at Stratford, Connecticut, 18 Jan 1736. He died age 80 years. [Holt]

He served as a Private for the Connecticut Militia under command of Captain Robert Walker Stratford. [1][2]

He passed away in 1815[3][4] and was buried in [Nichols Farm Burial Ground - West Yard], Trumbull, Fairfield County, Connecticut[5].

His will is dated 27 June 1798 and proved on 2 January 1816 in Stratford. He mentions his wife Rachel, his daughters, Sarah Coe, Martha Shelton, Rachel Booth, and Mary Beardsley, and his sons, Elisha Beardsley, Joseph Smith Beardsley, Andrew Beardsley, John Beardsley, and James Beardsley. His inventory was completed on 5 February 1816.[6]

In 1818, his estate distribution was set out to his widow Rachel, Joseph Smith Beardsley (eldest son), Andrew Beardsley, John Beardsley, and James Beardsley.[7]

Beardslee-318 and Beardsley-2514 appear to represent the same person because: The tombstone says Beardslee, not Beardsley. But that's not a birth record.
