Biography

He was a Loyalist. farmer and tailor. Jesse Beardsley is a descendant of the immigrants William Beardsley and Mary Harvey. Testing currently indicates that William's male lineage belongs to Y DNA haplogroup I-L1483, Analysis of a FTDNA Big Y test.

From A History of the Old Town of Stratford and the City of Bridgeport, Part II. Pg. 1139:

231. Jesse, son of William, 2nd, and Susanna (--------) Beardsley, m. Ruth Lyon, of Redding. On Jan. 11, 1753, he made choice of his uncle, Ebenezer Beardsley, as guardian. He was a tailor by trade, settled in Redding, where he owned a farm. Four of his sons were tailors.
349. William, b. April 29, 1777
350. Aaron; went west.
351. Levi; went west.
352. Daniel; m. Nancy Darwin (sic). He was killed by the thills of a sleigh striking him, and was buried in Newtown.
353. Jesse (M.D.); was a goldsmith, but studied medicine, and died young, in Redding.
354. Miriam; m. Daniel Sanford, brother of her brother William’s wife; went west.
355. Jabez; went west.
356. Lois; d. young.
