It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Lois by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Lois:
How do we know that Lois Bearse, daughter of Josiah, was the Lowis Bass who married Thomas Knapp? (Hubbell, Ephraim. New Fairfield Marriages, 1746-1791 (Connecticut State Library, 1962), p 6)
EDITED TO ADD: In another version of the marriage record, she is Loes Barnss: "Connecticut, Deaths, 1640-1955", database, FamilySearch (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:F7PG-P8X : 11 June 2020), Thomas Knap, 1758. Thomas Knap and Loes Barnss, 07 Feb 1758; citing Norfolk, Litchfield, Connecticut, United States, Connecticut State Library, Hartford.; FHL microfilm 1,503,193.
Lois is not named in the 1791 distribution of Josiah's estate.
Found the answer. It's claimed, without source, in the two genealogies cited for her origins, I wonder why she wasn't named in the distribution of Josiah's estate.
Next question: can we remove the middle name Newcomb? No middle name is recorded in any of the docs.
