Please visit our tutorial pages to learn how to use WikiTree: New Member How To Use WikiTree. They will save you time, energy, and frustration as you add your family profiles.

Exploring the site is the best way to learn. One way to do that is to check out the drop-down menus on the top right side of your profile page. Finding a known ancestor and collaborating with the profile manager is another great way to start.

Here's more for you to know. Each profile has a Profile Manager. To begin with, that's the one who created the profile. I created your profile so I was the manager... until you accepted the invitation, so now YOU are profile manager but I'm on your trusted list. You are the only one who can control your privacy level. I need to ask you, though, to raise your privacy level to the same as your parents. "Private with public family tree and biography". That is a requirement for your DNA test to count. As I get more tests added you will begin to see the results.

You can stay as a "Family Member" as long as you want. Or, you can get promoted to WikiTree Genealogist by agreeing to the Honor Code. This allows you to participate more fully.

Hi, Joe. Welcome. Here's a little about how this works. WikiTree is collaborative, meaning that everybody "owns" the trees and can make adds and edits. There is also a privacy system. At the top left of your profile, you'll see a red "lock". That's the most limiting privacy level. Your parents have a greenish "lock" that means people can see their info but only those on the "Trusted" list can edit. I have added you to the Trusted list of your parents. Beyond that, all profiles have an "open" lock. There is an honor code. The idea is that any changes are to add accuracy, add documentation, add detail, make more connections. So, sharing is a good thing.
