Biography

Larry Edward Beasley was born in 1946. He was the son of Almon Beasley and Addie Jackson.
Mr. Larry Edward Beasley, 64 of 378 Hammond Lane, went to be with Our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010.
He leaves behind his wife, Sybil of 43 years; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Paul Beasley and wife, Karen of Staunton, Va., Larry Andrew Beasley and his wife, Dawn of Stuarts Draft, Va. and Charles Allen Beasley and wife, Megan of Charlotte, N.C.; his mother Addie Mae (Jackson) Beasley of Stephenson, Va.; two sisters, Ethel Kate (Beasley) Chase and her husband, Rick of Clearbrook, Va. and Velma Dean (Beasley) Simkhovitch and husband, Ronnie of Stephenson, Va.; special nieces and nephews from the Winchester, Va. ; area and special aunts, uncles and cousins all originally from North Carolina and many, many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Almon Glenn Beasley; and a cousin, Sgt. Bobby Beasley, who gave his life for our freedom on Aug. 7, 2004 in Afghanistan; and a very close and special friend, E. Rick Carroll.
Larry was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1969. He served for the Presidential White House Communications Agency during the Vietnam War.
His employment included Mosler Safe Co. for five years, and then he went on to Jefferson National Bank which became Wachovia and First Union through mergers. Larry retired from banking security and facilities management as assistant vice-president in 2003.
Larry began to do what he loved best, working with God's green earth as a farmer and having pig roasts for all his family and friends. He enjoyed over the years, fishing, bowling, hunting and attending family reunions in Clinton, N.C.
Larry was an active member of Church on the Hill in Fishersville, Va. since 1988. He loved serving on the prayer team, as head usher, greeter, council member and working behind the scenes on many projects. He loved the Lord and serving his fellow man. Larry was a member of the Jollivue-Barterbrook Ruritan Club for over thirty years.
Larry touched many lives in many ways through the seasons of his life. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends. He is at peace with our Lord and his prayer would be for all to come to know Jesus as their personal Savior as he did.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 28, at the Church on the Hill by pastors Brandon Williams and Shane Lilly. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens in Staunton.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 27, in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at his residence.
Active pallbearers are brother-in-law, Ronnie Simkhovitch, Sr., two nephews, Ronnie Simkhovitch, Jr. and Raymond Lind, nephew-in-law, Scott Dolese, special friends, Roger Pultz and Shannon Messick. Special honorary pallbearers are the McDaniel family, the Carroll family, the Altizer family and the Messick family, the brothers and sisters from Church on the Hill and members of the Jollivue-Barterbrook Ruritan Club.
It is suggested that those desiring to make memorial contributions to the Church on the Hill Building Fund, be sent to, 100 Foursquare Lane, Fishersville, Virginia 22939.
Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton, Va. is in charge of his arrangements.
