She died January 19, 1897 in Manhattan, New York[8]
Research Note
*This profile is a merge of Beasley-4550 and Unknown-392. Here are the notes discussing the two wives and whether they were the same person.
I believe the two wives of Abraham, Jane and Henrietta, are the same person. The only difference I can find other than the name is that Jane was listed as born in New York, and Henrietta was listed as born in Virginia. Neither Abraham or Henrietta had a sister of this age, or a sister named Jane. Unsure of sister-in-laws. But even if Jane Avery was a family member, Henrietta is missing from the 1870 records, leading me to believe this was a typo in the original records.
Another way to look at it would be, did Abraham have 3 wives. Did he marry Henrietta Beasley, then Jane Unknown, and then Henrietta Unknown? I think the Social Security Record of son, Sylvester, can answer this. He was born in 1877, and still lists Henrietta Beasley as his mother. This wouldn't be possible is there was more than one wife.[9]
January 18, 1860, Abraham married Henrietta Frances Beasley[2]
In the 1860 Census, Abraham is living with his parents and wife, Henrietta[5]
Child, Henry, born in 1866 has Henrietta listed as his mother on his death certificate. [10]
In the 1870 Census[6], Abraham is married to Jane, and they are living next door to his father. Living next door to his father makes me certain this is the same Abraham. Jane is the mother of the following children:
Samuel Avery 9
Anna Avery 7
Ida Avery 5
Henry Avery 3
Belle Avery 0
Beverly Avery 0
Child Sylvester is born in 1877 and lists as mother, Henrietta Beasley.
By the 1880 Census[7] Abraham was now married to Henrietta. The following children are listed:
Samuel 19
Henry 14
Belle 9
Sylvester 8
Emma 6
John E. 4
I believe Jane and Henrietta are the same person, I have found more records and added them.(Mutimer-76 27 October 2020)
Orignal notes that included the 1870 Census:
Is it possible that Jane and Henrette are the same person? Or are there more than 1 Henrette/Henrietta Averys? Need the marriage and/or birth records to figure this out. (McNamee-238 19:55, 8 July 2017 (EDT))
