Walter Beath was one of the Scots-Irish Immigrants to America 1718 onwards.

Biography

Walter Beath was born in 1681 in Ulster, Ireland. His family were Ulster Scots who had fled to Northern Ireland to avoid religious persecution near the end of the 17th century[1].

Walter lived through the Siege of Derry in 1689 as a young boy. In his later years he recalled sitting at a rat-hole in the wall, waiting for a rat to come out so that he could eat it[1].

In 1718 Walter emigrated to New England with his wife and son, settling first in Lunenburg, Massachusetts before relocating to Boothbay, Maine in June 1731. No record exists of his wife's name[2].

His sister Jennet Beath married William Fullerton.

Walter passed away on 11 June 1759[3] in Boothbay[2].
